Summer

Dude, It’s too hot!

For the last four years we have rented out the house in Palm Springs for the ‘season’ November to May, when the ‘Snow Birds’ come down from the North and then we have had a week or two in the baking sun. 2020 brought a different clientele with a new group of people coming to the desert mid summer. Just a brief FYI here - 110-120F (40-50c) is normal and the temperature doesn’t dip significantly at night.

PROS: laying in the 90 degree pool at midnight looking at the clear, star filled sky, feeling serenity and bliss. Shops and restaurants are less crowded. Spas run AMAZING deals…

CONS: You are in the desert. In the summer. Preparation is needed. Our AC is as good as it gets but if you open the doors all day or turn it off, it will not be able to keep you comfortably cool at night. Air conditioners can cool a home 30-40 degrees from the outside temperature, so if it is 124 degrees outside, it may still feel hot inside. The primary bedroom and the sunroom get the warmest. Be sure to keep the fans in these rooms running! Set the AC to 76F (It’s Solar powered so guilt free). The fans help move the cooler air around.

ICE ICE BABY - The fridge may not make all of the ice you need. The cooler in the outdoor kitchen will hold up to 30 lbs of ice! That may be extreme. You may want to buy a bag of ice a day.

H2O - DRINK WATER! I didn’t say don’t day drink but please drink water too. My personal chore is one giant bottle of water before my first alcoholic drink.
